“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,” Acts 3:19 NKJV
Dear Heavenly Father – Thank you this time we can spend in your word. Please speak to me and to everyone reading this as we know your word is empowering and transformative. Open our eyes, wake us up, and please open our understanding. In the name of Jesus – Amen
For those of you who read the title and the first verse (above) and think you know what these things mean, please hang in there with me through this – you’ll see why. For those of you who do not know, let us study this together.
Repent in the verse above comes the Greek words meta and noieo and means to reconsider or think differently. Therefore let us put aside our mind set that we know certain things and reconsider some familiar passages ‘so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord’.
In our broader understanding of all passages with this theme, we understand that “Repent” is an acknowledgement of any sin, a confession of that sin to God, and asking for forgiveness of the sin with the intention to not continue in that sin. (Remembering that Jesus also taught us to forgive others so we may be forgiven.)
Both Christians and non-Christians sin. So – this message is for both Christians and non-Christians. Our sins are different from person to person and in our eyes – but sin is sin in God’s eyes and it doesn’t matter if your sin is small or big in human eyes. Sin separates us from Christ and repentance should be a daily activity. If today, you haven’t yet repented, please take a moment to do so before we go on.
Amen! So, we are gathered together (socially distant by time and space, yet together in spirit outside of any constraints) and therefore the verse:
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20 NIV
applies – and Jesus is with us and His presence is here. We have met the requirements for a time of refreshing. Heavenly Father we are ready and accept a refreshing from you – show us things in a new way – do a new work in us, Lord we ask in the name of Jesus – Amen
Sometimes when I am tired and need to be refreshed, I take a nap. Now is not the time for a nap though. We must rely on time spent in the presence of God with our brothers and sisters – to be refreshed.
“This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.” Romans 13:11 NLT
This verse cannot ring more true at any other point in human history except maybe tomorrow, or the day after or in the future as each day is a day closer to the coming of our Lord Jesus (the rapture) and the impending Jacob’s Sorrow.
The Bible says we will know the signs of the time, but not the day and hour – and it doesn’t take a prophet to see the world stage is poised for the event of Jacob’s Sorrow to be played out. We are desperately running out of time.
Although the urgency should not be underplayed – If we are wrong and the Lord tarries for another 100 years, praise the Lord as more can be saved during that time. If we are right and the urgency is for right now, this moment, then we better be obedient to God and busy doing His work.
“making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:16 ESV
The Apostle Paul wrote this because the times they lived in were becoming very evil. I wonder, can he peak down from heaven and see what our world has become? What would he say of this evil? The Epstein human sex trafficking scandal is being downplayed or not covered by mainstream media here in the United States. And as I google for world news from other countries, I fail to find much. The world is turning a blind eye to sex slaves and pedophilia?! And that isn’t even the most grievous of sins being exposed and brushed off. What about all the celebrities and world leaders and US officials and Bill Gates blatantly supporting demonology, witchcraft, and other antichrist activities?! Does anyone care? Have our hearts grown so cold we can look the other way because it isn’t on our doorstep and we do not have to turn on the news or internet to see it?
Do not tell me the evil hasn’t increased, instead our access to it has, so now it seems like more – it is a lie from the pit of hell to keep us asleep. If the evil hasn’t increased then it is not the end times. But it has! Wake up! The fig tree has blossomed. The temple is ready. The technology for the mark of the beast has been tested. The one world order is prepared. Israel has signed the peace treaty, for heaven’s sake!!! What else needs to be – to wake you up!
I wish it wasn’t now, I wish there was more time, I wish we could eat, drink and be merry without consideration of the dire truth. Fasting and praying and dyeing to self and sin is hard and serious work, and honestly not as fun as sin initially is. Moreover – the “friends” I have lost and people who I thought were friend who now actively mock me and attack me on social media platforms. But the truth is now known and I cannot deny it. There is no other way – and the time is short. I don’t need friends like that anyway.
“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4 NKJV
“Enemy of God”. Oof! It is high time to wake up as Romans 13:11 says. Are we in a covenant with our God as the bride of Christ – or are we cheating on him?! Oh Lord, separate the wheat from the tares!
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24 NIV
You cannot serve God and sin, or God and flesh, or God and idols, or God and anything else! You can not serve God and any thing else.
“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 ESV
It’s time for real commitment. It is time to take a real, honest look inside and see if we are making any compromises. It’s time to wake up and get serious about this – it is life or death. Yes – life or death.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” Romans 6:1-7 KJV
God forbids continuing in sin! You see, salvation is a free gift:
“9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NIV
However, you must also repent, acknowledge any sin, confess that sin to God, and asking for forgiveness of the sin with the intention to not continue in that sin. (Remembering that Jesus also taught us to forgive others so we may be forgiven.)
“So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” Revelations 3:16 NIV
Basically – this says you can be a Christian professing Christ can still NOT make it into heaven. Don’t believe Revelations? Well here are the words of Jesus:
“21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” Matthew 7:21-23 NIV
ONLY those who DO THE WILL of my Father.
I have been told by a couple people that I use the word obedience too often that I could probably find a nicer word. People do not like that word. What if I am nice and people miss the point – only obedience gets into heaven. There it is. In the words of Jesus.
If you are my brother or sister in Christ, I cannot hold my tongue and watch you be deceived. I love the family of Christ – and so does God and He wants to make sure you know the truth. Do not waste your relationship with Him and miss the point and miss out on glory. And if you do know the Lord, I love you as well – Because God loves you enough to get this message into your hands to learn – He wants to be your friend and save you from the wrath to come! As I always say:
If you don’t already, and today you would like to have a relationship with a God who can communicate with you and be part of your life (and protect you) – one who is full of mighty power and tender love, then please know that I have put the “A, B, C’s of Salvation” in my introduction.
