“And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,” Revelation 5:9 NKJV
Do you already have a relationship with a powerful God who cares about your every need because He loves you? Did you know my God can communicate with you and protect you – He has a plan for you to prosper if you just submit to His will and let His plan play out in your life!!! God wants a relationship with you and has already made a plan for your life. He loves you so much He sent His son to this world, to die as a sacrifice for your sins and rise from death with victory over sin and the ability to have a personal relationship with you.
Do you want to know truth? Be able to discern lies? Know how to figure it all out in these confusing times and have peace? The Bible says Jesus is the truth. I have experienced it and it has changed my life. I was once a hot mess of sin, promiscuity, drug and alcohol use and so much more. But I was lost and when I could not find my way, or find a truth, I numbed it with bad choses. When I found Jesus, and truth – I found peace and deliverance from those things.
If you want a relationship with God without truth you will get the counterfeit, hypocritical Christianity that has kept some of you away for too long. You need truth and relationship. You need to be honest with yourself and God (including honest repentance) and God will reveal truth to you. It becomes the two way, interaction that your relationship with God is built on. This is why Jesus is called the truth, because he is our only way to the Father.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NIV
Here is a prayer for you to pray:
Jesus, I believe you are the way, the truth, the life, and the only way to the Father. I believe you are the son of God, you came to Earth and lived. That you died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins, and rose again so that I may be saved from my sins and be able to get to know you. I declare: Jesus, you are Lord!
Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner and I ask that you forgive me of my sins and come into my life. Help me to turn away from my sins and transform me into what you have lovingly created me to be. Help me through a real personal relationship grow and accept your will for my life – that I may live in your blessings. Please walk with me, and talk with me – I accept a relationship with you and with our Father God, through you. In the name of Jesus I pray ~ Amen
Dear Heavenly Father – Please give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of who you are, who Jesus is, and who the Holy Spirit is. Open the eyes of our understanding, please, so we may know the hope of our calling and the vast sovereignty and power of the grace of the cross. Please do not let us miss out on what you want and need from us today. Lord, I pray that your word prepares us and not scares us! We forbid the works and influences of fear over your word and our sound mind. And please keep us and bless us and shine your face upon us and pour out grace over us and give us peace! And we pray for the peace of Jerusalem! Thank you! – In Jesus name we pray, Amen
Today’s reading is the Book of The Revelation of Christ, chapter 5 (embedded below for your convenience in the NKJV).
The Lamb Takes the Scroll
5 And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.
4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open [a]and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and [b]to loose its seven seals.”
6 And I looked, [c]and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.
Worthy Is the Lamb
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made [d]us kings[e] and priests to our God;
And [f]we shall reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and [g]ever!”
MEMORY VERSE CHALLENGE:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Yesterday we discussed the glorious throne room. Today we begin with a scroll and seals and then vials (or bowls) and things begin getting weird – and these are the bad things that are supposed to happen and will we be on earth for it – because none of us want to suffer… and the enemy tries to sneak in a little fear. So, let us set the stage so you do not need to fear.
“Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.” Rev. 1:19
On day one of this book – it told us what it was going to write about. Things that were, things that are and things which will come. Some of these things we will be reading have already happened – and that is ok. You see God is letting us know he knew and he was there and He is still here on the other side. And the same is true for what we are going through – God knew it was coming; He is right here with us; and He will be on the other side of it.
But we should scroll back a little further to this:
“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Rev. 1:3
We must shift our focus if we are to receive the revelation of Jesus AND the blessing. We are not supposed to focus on the unknowns which cause fear – we are to focus on Jesus and figuring out what in this we are to keep, do, remember, find practical application for, and so on. We ae blessed for reading AND KEEPING this book. Now, this will take some creativity but we’ll get through it. Like yesterday, we turned the erroneously scary throne room into a place of curiosity and more correctly a place of help in time of need. That is where we can find our Jesus when we need to get down to business.
Yesterday we read Daniel’s account which ended with the books being opened. The vision continued. And the next section is the interpretation of Daniel’s visions and things happen, Daniel’s upset and the enemy in the end is destroyed. Go ahead and go read Daniel 7.
As we open the scrolls here is John’s vision I cannot help but wonder about the overlaps with Daniel’s vision. I have heard so many scholars say these are different events and other say they overlap a little and still other say they completely overlap – but Daniel did not give us ALL the info… and I hate all the conflicting thoughts on it. All I know is it does seem to have similarities that cannot be denied. Go read it and decide for yourself.
Meanwhile, you and I have a view of Jesus to examine today:
“1 And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.
4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.”
So there stands John – this man has never seen a movie. He is watching this all play out. He is seeing so many things he cannot begin to understand. But he does understand the important and intensity of this scroll or book depending on your version and the fact that it has 7 seals and that seem pretty important too and in it all this is where he breaks down and cries.
I sing a song about loving God and I am weeping – he made it quite far before he broke into tears. Here he sees all that was and before we can move on we need someone worthy to open these and there is no one – humanity made it this far and now failed! It must have been what John was thinking!
“5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”
John lived with Jesus – was taught by Jesus – saw his brothers and sister in Christ grow and recruit more for Jesus and in the whole lot of them – none of them ever were so perfect as to be able to open the scroll. And now that he is the last one alive on earth and he lives among the next generation there is still no one. And as he can’t get out of his own mind’s way – they declare Jesus is worthy! I bet he jumped and swung and arm or both! I bet he yelled out some sort of elation!
You and I know Jesus as the Lion of the tribe of Judah – we can see a few songs with that wording. We have heard him called the root of David. But John doesn’t act relieved or elated like I would think. Maybe he doesn’t know Jesus by these names? He was just talking with Jesus in the other room – he must at least be looking around for him.
“6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.”
Well. This is a very different description of what Jesus looks like than what we saw a couple chapters ago. Post-ascension Jesus seems to be a shapeshifter. We have read where the enemy can appear as an angel of light or as a scary monster… so we know they can shapeshift and they can even enter people and we know they can enter people and use them and then jump to another. So why is it so hard to think Jesus can too? I have hear TOO many people preach that it was dream symbolism – but spirit world is very different from the physical world. Things are created by a spoken word there. Symbols there become tangible things here in the physical. And the spirit world is outside of time. So Jesus the man greets John. But Jesus the man became a sacrificial sheep on a cross and THAT IS THE JESUS who steps forward to unseal the scroll.
This is a very important revelation if you are looking to understand our Lord more deeply. I call it grace and refer to it in a general sense as ‘the work of the cross’. The innocents, standing accused, the beatings and injustice of the world, which he carried. He carried it all. Then onto a cross. He took my sins but he took all sins for all times – a sinless man became our sin and in the same second overpowered it and destroyed it. It shook the world, ripped the veil, and raise zombies from their graves! Jesus who cannot die, died. And death that cannot win brought the fight home. And on the third day the humans woke up to realize it – but the spirit world was shaken, fates sealed, a timeline for the fallen angels is in place. It is not a punishment for humanity – he saved humanity (at least all who accept the gift). He also saved the spirit world! Now – who is worthy?!
“8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”
Many believe the rapture has taken place as this is the song of the redeemed. I must reiterate – we are outside of time while inside this vision and cannot accurately access a timeline not even using just the word of God to explain the word of God. But this I do know – if you are thinking that, you have taken your eyes off the redeemer, the savior, they King of kings and Lord of lords, and the very worthy Lamb. This book is not a presentation of the problems of the end times – this book is a revelation of Jesus!! And when you worry about where you fit in the timeline – you are looking at you. You are looking at the unpaid bills. You are looking at the emptying cupboards and supply chain issues. You are looking at a slim Christmas – and can you even afford Christmas? You are looking at your problems at work. You are trying to fit the info in the Bible into the practical application of how to manage your life – when God wants you to surrender it, not manage it and focus on The Lamb.
John was the last generation to have seen a lamb sacrificed in the temple. The temple was torn down by the Romans about 20 years ago and many have never seen a slain lamb. Jesus stood as a sliced up slain lamb. I bet John is weeping again. I am. Are you? Do you fully understand the significance of this? And why he isn’t a pure lamb healed after all he went through? Or why he isn’t the human form John is used to?
“11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
First we sing that He is worthy because he did all these great things for us (cause humans are so self absorbed). Now the angels sing He is worth of all the things He already has – because word cannot worship all that He is. For all of time there are angels around God singing holy holy holy because words fail and that is the best they can do. And I cannot think of a better way to say you are worthy of it all and you already got it all. But you are worthy of it.
Here on earth, I can do the practical application of: if Jesus is worthy of it all – then I give myself and my all to him. Easier said than done – but who can hurt you? Who can stop you? Who can appose when it is the Lord’s! Angels came and broke Peter out of prison. Nothing can stop the Lord almighty!
“13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”
I have a small dog – she is a cutie. She sits on my lap under the laptop tray soaking in the heat of the laptop every day as I write this out. She hears all my studies, devotionals, and sermons. She thinks they are easy to sleep through. But when I say to her that every creature must worship their maker she looks attentively at me. I tell her that her maker is Jesus. She just looks at me. The same way she looks at me when I blow the shofar. She knows.
So today I tell her to listen carefully so when the time comes she knows what to say. I don’t want my puppy to be the one who messes up her lines. And I read verse 23 out loud to her and tell her to remember it for ALWAYS. Cause she will have to say it. I’m not crazy I am just doing Mark 16:15.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 KJV
“14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.”
That is a worship service I would love to be at! I went to a church that was 3 songs no more than 15 minutes – my vocal chords were hardly warmed up when it ended. I went to a church not too long ago that starts with announcements. Then the pastor called up the music team and said they will do their best but a few people were out sick. Well 2 songs in the worship started to flow and they worshiped for almost two hours and I thought it was great! Then they prayed and ended the service. I thought no preaching?! But there service was interrupted by the spirit and they followed. The next time I visit there was good hearty preaching. None the less – my point is I love a good worship service. Praying and singing and declaring His worthiness. Good good stuff. Fun to do at home as well. Even good to do alone… because you will find the spirit world around you joins in.
I also wanted to remind and inform all of you, that instead of writing a book on fasting (since it is the topic I get asked the most about) I have created a Facebook group that is designed to be interactive and give you all the Bible verses on fasting, all the types of fast, and how to fast. In the group are specialist to help us along the way, like the creator of The Fasting Protocol (fasting for health and weight loss; which is part of fasting and important to know about – He can also speak to fasting in a healthy manner). The group is new and other experts are invited, I am hopeful they will join. So let’s join the group and see what we will learn about prayer and fasting.
